The Best Flip Waffle Maker: The Flipside Presto

Turning waffles is a new standard feature of many leading waffle manufacturers. In this article we inform you about our choice for the best inlay packaging manufacturer and the reasons for this choice. You can also watch our video on the used waffle iron.

Why would you use a waffle iron? Now that many older waffle irons cook better and faster at the bottom than at the top, the instrument manufacturers have introduced an innovation by making waffle irons with a tilt function. In this way, both sides of the waffle can be baked evenly, which enables more uniform waffle preparation.

When choosing the best waffle iron, we took many factors into account.

  1. Easy to use
  2. The time it takes to cook
  3. Regularity of wafer baking
  4. Easy cleaning after cooking
  5. Long lifespan
  6. Availability

In our opinion, the Belgian Presto 03510 Flipside waffle iron is the best on the market, so I would like to explain the reasons in detail.

Many inverted waffles rotate horizontally 180 degrees. To do this, hang the machine in the air and turn the waffle iron with your wrist. These are the traditional waffles often seen in hotels.

The Belgian Presto 03510 Flipside has reinvented the wafer shop and saved space thanks to its innovative design. Instead of rotating horizontally, it rotates 180 degrees along the hinge, which remains on the ground. This saves space because the waffle iron does not have to hang in the air, and it works perfectly!

Presto FlipSide: the privilege of the Belgian waffle maker Presto

  • Rotating style change function
  • Makes a large round 7-inch waffle, over 1 inch thick.
  • The digital timer alerts you when the waffle is ready.
  • Non-stick coating
  • Temperature control
  • Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 3
  • Vertical position allows easy storage

Easy to use

This waffle iron is easy to use. It doesn’t take long to warm up, and it is equipped with a good three meter long electric cable. The principle is that as soon as you insert the dough, you turn the waffle iron around its axis, so that the dough spreads on the opposite plate. This waffle iron has a non-stick coating, so you don’t have to worry about spraying or melting oil and removing it with a brush.

This Belgian waffle maker has no removable plates, which some consider a disadvantage because he has deep pockets. This position is not important to me personally.  My experience with the Hamilton Beach 26030 has not been very good. At least with Presto you won’t get stuck to iron plates and try to fix them inside before you use them.

And as an extra, this waffle iron is easy to store because it can be stored upright, i.e. it can be placed in a cupboard, for example.

Cooking time

It also takes about 2 minutes to heat a waffle iron and another 4 to 5 minutes to make a crispy waffle. If your dough is really thick, you may need to set the timer to 6 minutes. This means you can feed yourself or your family in less than 10 minutes. It’s super efficient!

Timer function Presto 0351 on the rear side

Presto has a digital timer that counts down to tell you when the insert is ready. You set it by pressing a button for the number of minutes the waffle is baked. It beeps twice when there’s a minute, then five times when the waffle is ready.

Many other wafer manufacturers do not have a timer function.

This handy little feature ensures that the waffle is not burned. It’s perfect for a busy morning when your hands are busy. Of course you can use the timer on your oven or your phone, but I think it’s a good addition to this waffle iron.

Uniform Cooking

Thanks to the swivel function, this workshop always produces perfectly crunchy and even golden waffles. The dough has the ability to settle on the top and bottom of the waffle as it turns, so gravity helps to cook perfectly.

The hinge itself is nice and sturdy, and the lid has enough space to lift the waffle up during baking, so you can view the waffle to make sure it is ready during baking. It is much stronger than other waffle irons that rotate horizontally in the axis of the handle.

Easy cleaning

In the current state of the art, it makes sense to only choose a waffle iron with a non-stick coating. This allows the waffle to come out of the pan more easily without leaving much dough. You can then easily remove the crispy residue with the kitchen brush and wipe the surface of the frying pan with a damp cloth.

I have noticed that the Presto 03510 waffle iron is easy to clean and that the non-stick coating works well. Some of your dough or cooking oil may drip into the hinge part, so you need to turn it over to clean both sides of the hinge when you are finished. I also recommend that you wait until the waffle iron has cooled down before trying to clean it – otherwise you could get burned.

Some of the waffles I’ve used seem to be stuck when you turn them, and they can usually only turn in one direction. This means if you try to turn them around any other way, they might break. The Presto seems very strong and easy to turn. Unlike some other insert manufacturers, you don’t have to worry about breaking the rotation mechanism.

If you want to see a demonstration video showing the durability of this waffle iron and its properties, it may be useful.

This waffle iron is competitively priced compared to other flip style waffle irons, which are generally sold for less than $50. And of course it’s cheaper than double hinged waffles like Cuisinart’s WAF-F20, which usually cost around $90.  Because it is a well-designed kitchen appliance that will last for many years, it is very affordable.

And from my point of view, it’s much cheaper to feed your family by hitting the pancake batter than to go to the BCI or a cafe every week for breakfast!

Bonus functions

In addition, the temperature control allows you to set the waffle iron so that the waffles are baked with the perfect crispness or softness you desire. If you want a crispy waffle, set the temperature higher and let the waffle cook a little longer. This is an interesting feature that helps even beginners to make waffles, because if you keep it at a low temperature, the chance of burning is smaller!

Other options and upgrades

Of course, the Presto is not the only waffle iron on the market.  Our choice for second place waffle iron is the Hamilton Beach Waffle Iron with Flip-Top. You can read our magazine here.

All in all, the Belgian Presto 03510 FlipSide waffle iron is a first-class product that meets all your waffle needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!
